The holding company behind my advisory board seats and my own projects in digital marketing. Around 20 years old, based in Berlin.
Let's start with the obvious: Alpar Ventures is my personal holding company. I founded it around 2006 in Frankfurt am Main. Today it is based in Berlin. Until early 2026 it was called “Alpar Beteiligungs GmbH”. That name was perfectly fine in German. In any international conversation it sounded silly and was basically unpronounceable. So it was time for a refresh, and the company is now called Alpar Ventures.
For completeness: from 2005 to 2017 there was a second holding company in parallel, the UK based Alpar Limited (company number 05608269). It has since been integrated into Alpar Beteiligungs GmbH, so into what is Alpar Ventures today.
Two things come together under this roof: a handful of advisory board seats and my own projects in digital marketing. Let me go through both.
The first part is advisory board work. At a handful of companies I sit down regularly with the management or the marketing team and help them sort things out: which channels are actually worth it, where money is being burned right now, and what to tackle next in SEO, GEO and performance marketing. I do not run the day-to-day marketing. That is what agencies and in-house teams are for. I am more the sparring partner who has made many of these decisions before, including the wrong ones.
I have been doing internet things since 1998. I founded, built and sold a few companies myself (Hitflip, later Hitmeister, the agency AKM3, an audiobook publisher). So most mistakes you can make in digital marketing I have paid for myself at some point. In these rounds that is worth more than any single tip.
To avoid any misunderstanding: this is not a consulting offer. I do not offer consulting you can book, and new board seats are added very selectively, almost always via people who already know me and the company. I think the real value of a board member is not the one brilliant idea. It is someone from the outside asking the same questions year after year and following up on what happened with the answers. That only works if you pick the few mandates very deliberately.
The second part is probably what you know me for. I have been speaking at conferences for around 20 years, in Germany and internationally, most recently at Search SEOul in South Korea. All dates are listed under Talks. In 2026 Rheinwerk published my book “Generative Engine Optimization” (in German). Before that there was, among others, “SEO: Strategie, Taktik und Technik” with Springer. And in the OMR Education Podcast I have been answering community questions at #askAndre since 2018. The full archive of articles, books and episodes is under Publications.
Why mention all this on a holding company's page? Because the two parts belong together. What I explain on stage or in a book comes out of the board rooms, and what I research for a book ends up pretty quickly back in the companies I think along with.
Not an agency, not a consultancy, not an incubator. There is no team here that builds your campaign, no consulting package you can book, and no pitch slot. If you are looking for an agency, I can probably recommend one. That is, after all, one of the questions I get asked most often.
Alpar Ventures is based in Berlin. You can find the company profile on Google Maps and the page on LinkedIn below. The company details are in the legal notice.
And if, after reading this, you think a conversation about a board seat might make sense: the best way to reach me is not a contact form. It is a mutual acquaintance. Old-fashioned, I know, but in 25+ years it has been the most reliable filter, for both sides.
